New Years Resolution & Goals

Making New Year’s resolutions is a tradition that I like to try and uphold. This year i'm going to pick out a few things to work on and keep the list either on my phone or on my bedside table as a constant reminder and to stay motivated. I never seem to fulfil my new year's resolutions due to forgetting about them or just not feeling the motivation to do them. But this year, I WILL stick by them tough challenges that I set myself! I found a little list of things to give me set goals to do as well as a main one just to spice it up a bit so...
A bad habit I’m going to break:
Leaving myself too little time to get ready & to wake up earlier for breakfast! (I never have breakfast)
I’m going to work harder at:
Making time for exercise, uni work & saving money!
A class I’d like to take:
Spin class +/ Zumba +/ Yoga
I’d like to spend more time doing:
Outdoor activities, gym & uni work
A food I want to eat more of:
Fruits and veggies
Main Goal:                                                                                                                                                               As for my main goal, I would LOVE to lose some weight and also tone up for the summer. It's also due to the fact that I want to just feel better in myself and generally a lot healthier. My aim to do this has been planned out which is a good start - i'll be detoxing / juice dieting to start with as well as attending the gym, and then continuing the gym for atleast 6 hours a week and watching what I eat. If that doesn't work, then I have no idea what i'll do, but i'm hoping something good will happen!
If you are interested in my journey or want to see what types of things I do to help progress, then keep an eye out for new posts! I'm hoping to keep you all updated in what I do to achieve this goal. Feel free to keep me motivated too or if you have a similar goal, i'd love to see your progress too!
There you have it!
Write in the comment section what your New Years Resolutions are!? I'd love to know!
I hope you all have a lovely new years eve and have prepared yourselves for an amazing 2016!

September Favourites

Autumn is finally here! It sure feels like it too, the weather has turned and leaves are starting to change. It's probably my favourite time of the year because I love everything involved within autumn, like the change of weather, layering up clothes, putting a nice candle on and of course the hot chocolate has to come out of the cupboard. Anyway, throughout the month of September I've been into quite a few new products...

Real Techniques Beauty Blender - I wanted to see what the massive fuss was, about the beauty blenders so I gave it a go and i'm actually onto my 3rd one. If that doesn't show that I love it, then I don't know what will. I feel as if it applies the foundation and concealer really naturally and less caked compared to a brush.

Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer (Ivory) - The coverage is amazing and i'm finding it helpful with contouring too which is a bonus.

No7 Stay Perfect Shade & Define eye shadow (Glistening Ray) - LOVE LOVE LOVE! This colour is gorgeous. I use it on my inner corners to make my eyes look more wide awake and it has a small hint of glitter in which compliments the eyes so well and suits every other eyeshadow. It's also long lasting and doesn't budge throughout the day. You have to love a bit of glitter in the autumn.

Body Shop eye shadow (Bronze Bliss) - OMG! this eyeshadow is so beautiful! For ages now, i've been after a copper eye shadow because I feel like it really compliments all eye colours and skin tones and looks very autumnal. The colour is so pigmented too and just looks so pretty!

Seventeen (Easy On the Eye Birthday Suit) pallette - I've gone a bit eyeshadow mad but when I saw this about 2 weeks ago, I couldn't help but put it in my basket. The colours go so well with the other two eye shadow products in the blogpost. It has neutrals, and burgundy colours (matte and shimmery) in which I wanted due to it being autumn. I feel like i'll use every colour too.

Body Shop hand cream (Mango) - All I have to say it go into body shop and smell this! It's incredible! I love this fruity and sweet and that's exactly what it is. It's also a great size to throw in your handbag and take about with you. But my gosh, It smells YUM!

Essie Nail Polish (Tart Deco) - Why not have an orangey coral nail polish for autumn? It's not the seasonal colour or anything haha.

No7 Nail Polish (Dancing Shoes) - This looks so pretty on top of any nail colour to give it that extra festive sparkle.

New Look Lip Crayon (Velvet Matte) - This is a strange one, due to the fact that I didn't know New Look done makeup. Well thankfully they do because I wouldn't own this gorgeous lip colour. You all know I love a good nude, and this is perfect on an every day basis.

Hair Grips (Blonde) - This month, i've been using so many of these! They're so handy and also cheap. No matter how many I may find in my car or on my carpet, I will forever continue to buy them. They just work wonders. I always buy the ones from boots because I find that they are always the strongest for my mane.

No7 blusher (Apricot blossom) - Last makeup favourite is ofcourse a blusher. Now normally I wouldn't think of wearing an orangey toned colour on the cheeks, but No7 do the colour match for blushers now as well as foundations, concealers and lipsticks. This is one of the colours that was suggested to compliment my skintone and I think that it looks very nice and subtle on the skin. Plus it's coral which is more reason to wear it in the autumnal season.

Tesco Candles (Citrus Fruit & Ginger) - I have no idea on how to describe a smell but if you could image having an orange, some gingerbread and marshmallows, then that's the scent of these candles! Smells just like what I would consider autumn / winter. I've been burning this since I go it! It's lovely and such good value for money! Well done tescos!

Roses (Strawberry Dream) - These sweets have only recently been brought back out into stores which tells me it's coming up to festive season! These are a must have during the autumn and winter months. They are my absolute fav classic festive chocolate.

Friends - Within the month of September, I have actually started watching Friends from the beginning as I have only ever watched odd episodes here and there and i'm hooked.

Rita Ora ft Chris Brown (Body On Me) - I've been singing this song since it's come out. I love Rita Ora and I love Chris Brown so this combo is perfect.

Taylor Swift - Wildest Dreams - Taylor never fails to impress. This song is on replay in my head constantly.

What do you love about autumn? What are your favourites this month?

Starting University - Tips for Freshers!

Any day now, most cities are going to be absolutely jam packed by fresh-faced and wide eyed freshers, taking their first independent steps into adult life as a university student. I was a fresher 2 years ago! I can't believe I'm about to start my 3rd and final year! Being a fresher and attending uni is a GREAT experience and is something that every student should look forward to. As nerve-racking as it may sound, meeting new people, starting something new and possibly being away from home, you need to go prepared. Below are some top tips for freshers to make sure you have the best start to university!
GET INVOLVED
Most people always say how you make "friends for life" at University. Freshers week is the perfect opportunity to build friendship groups so make sure you don’t hide away in your room and ignore the world. Try and come out of your shell. Get to know your new flatmates / class mates as you will be seeing them a lot and also try and take part in the countless fresher activities your university provides.

BUDGET

As boring as this may sound - BUDGET BUDGET BUDGET! Getting your first student loan / grant feels amazing! It automatically makes you think that you have all this money to spend on anything you like. You might want to go out and enjoy freshers which you can, but make sure to spend your money very wisely. I sound like a nagging parent BUT it's true! As much as we would like to go out every night or grab a takeaway, maybe try and limit yourself to a few times a month compared to everyday. Trust me, it will help you out in the long run! If not, then make the most of your Pot Noodles and beans on toast. It might help you budget if you work out the general weekly spends for things you need and then give yourself some extra money for treats. That way, you wont starve and you'll have extra money for nights out or takeaways. Best of Both! Another way of saving up more would be to set up an ISA account with your bank!

GET A JOB
A job will help you get a bit of extra money for those takeaways and nights out! But don't forget to prioritise university! Work might be fun, but at the end of the day, that job isn't your life long job and uni work needs to get done, so don't over work! You need to find the right balance to manage uni and work.

BE A CLEVER SHOPPER
Try and be smart when you do your food / toiletry shop. Look around for different prices. It will get you familiar with the types of things you can get else wear for a fraction of the price! For things like your fruit and veg, try and look for local market stools as they tend to sell stuff really cheap. What I've noticed throughout the past 2 years is that the small savings add up very quickly if you do it right!

MAKE THE MOST OF STUDENT DISCOUNT

This will become your best friend! Make sure that before you start university you purchase an NUS card and sign up with Unidays! These will get you discounts in tons of clothing shops / restaurants. You even get Spotify for half the price and also a discount in places like Apple, MissGuided, boohoo, Pizza Express, Cinemas! You will realise that student discount will save you a fortune! Make the most of it and grab yourself some loyalty cards in large supermarkets or shops such as Tesco, Morrisons, Boots etc.

DO THE WORK
At first you might think that as a fresher you want to party make the most of loving life, but that shouldn't be the way of thinking about it. You'll realise that the first year of uni is going to be your easiest year and my gosh it flies by! If you spend a majority of your first year messing around and not taking things seriously then you will have a big shock when you have to tackle 2nd year. Take the work seriously and do things on time! The worst thing that I done was ask for an extension over summer and I left it till last minute which felt awful and stressed me out so much.

TURN UP TO CLASS
This is a must! Make sure you are on time and go to every class / lecture. Even if you think it's not that important... GO! Or if you are ill, email your teachers and let them know before hand and ask them what you have / will be missing. You never know whether the topic might pop up surprisingly... and attendance means a lot! Some lecturers might not help you when you need the help if you missed a lesson. The attention will be on someone who did turn up and make the effort. Also, try and go to as many guest lectures as possible. As geeky as that may sound, some of them can be really eye opening and inspire you to do well.

CUSTOMISE YOUR ROOM
Your bedroom at uni is going to be the only space in which you can actually call your own, so make sure it feels homely! Make it somewhere that you are happy to spend time in. Fill it with photographs of people you love / miss, posters, accessories, and in my case, FAIRY LIGHTS! Whatever you decide to do though, make sure you meet your tenancy agreement as you don't want to be drilling holes in the wall or painting etc when you aren't aloud! That would be a HUGE charge. Just make your room a very positive place and fill it with things that you love.

ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE
You really need to make sure that you enjoy yourself at university. Even though the tips above are important, enjoying yourself is most important. University years fly!

I hope you have a great freshers and first year at university! Good luck with your studies! Have you got any tips you’d like to share? Or anything you wish you knew when you were a fresher?

Panic Attacks - Tips and Tricks

Nowadays there are a lot of people who suffer with panic attacks and absent seizures...Sadly i'm one of them. They are very real, very awful, and emotionally debilitating. I've suffered with them since the age of 9. 11 years on, and I'm still suffering with them. Not as frequently but they seem to be getting worse each time - I never used to twitch and never used to go numb in my legs, arms or lips.

Some people who suffer with panic attacks describe the feeling as if they think something bad is going to happen to them "right now at this very moment". Others feel as though they are having a heart attack as their heart races so fast and they tend to think the worst of everything. For me personally it's been getting easier to control, I know now how to try and help prevent an attack or at least make sure I'm in the best place possible before it happens. My attacks happen mainly because of stress and what goes on in my life - even if it's something silly. My brain for some reason likes to take every little bit of stress and swirl it up and BAM - panic attack!

When I was younger I was always told by the doctors  that it was a "Hormone Thing" and the doctors just assumed that as I get older it would just gradually fade down, which it did at one point...I hadn't had an attack for about a year, but then I had another one and knew that hormones wasn't the reason behind it. So they continued to scan me and to this day, I'm still having scans but there isn't much that they can do. It's all about how I can control it and prevent it. Panic Attacks have stopped me from doing a lot whilst growing up. It would affect me going out with friends, meeting new people, going out to parties, clubbing etc. Below are a few tips on how I prevent myself from having attacks or to calm myself down in the process.

Tips on what to do when your feeling
stressed or anxious:

Take time out:
Stepping back from the problem helps clear your head

Eat Well Balanced meals:
Eat Healthy and keep hydrated (Maybe keep an energy snack in your bag)

Limit alcohol and caffeine:
It's known to aggravate anxiety

Get enough sleep:
When your stressed, you tend to need more sleep to calm the body down

Take deep breaths:
slowly exhale and inhale

Count to 10:
slowly and repeat

Laugh:
A good laugh goes a long way

Maintain a positive attitude:
Make an effort to replace negative thoughts with positive ones

The main ones that help me, are to take deep breaths and avoiding junk food because I find that it affects my mood the most. I also think that keeping a positive outlook helps too. We just all need to remember that instead of aiming for perfection which isn't possible, be proud of however close you get to achieving something. Accept that we can't control everything. We just need to put our stress into perspective and wonder if it's really as bad as we think it is.

I hope this post has helped at least one of you! Let me know your hints and tips on panic attacks too!

Nudes

Why do nudes always look so elegant? (No, not those kind of nudes, I mean LIPSTICKS!) There are so many types! Dusky pink, caramel, coffee etc. I've been a fan of a good nude lip for absolutely ages and have kept on building up my collection more and more. I love the fact that nude lipstick go with anything and you can wear them formally or on a night out. On my kind of complexion I do prefer my nudes to be more pinky toned, so you might notice that they are very pink and girly. Here are some of my faves...

Below are the lipsticks sampled out as swatches! Aren't they all just beautiful! From left to right the lipsticks are: Smashbox, Lancome, Loreal, Bourjour, Space N K and Chanel.

Bourjois - Rouge Edition 04 - £7.99
Smashbox - Be Legendary Posy Pink - £16.00

Back to School Hair & Make up

It's that time of year again where people go back to school, or even back to college and university. It's very scary preparing for that first day! It's probably the only day that I would get up early to make sure I look my best, but after a week or so, I get bored of making all the effort and time. Luckily I have found a routine for myself to do in the morning which is quick and easy. If you are anything like me and you like to get as much of a lay in as possible, then you might find this post beneficial due to a makeup routine and a few quick and easy hairstyles. My everyday kind of look is very simple especially for school / college / uni. I like to not go over the top with makeup and I try to keep things as straight forward as possible so it all looks effortless and natural. Here is a list of the makeup items that I use on a day to day basis:

Smashbox Makeup Primer
No7 BB Cream - Fair
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder - 02
Rimmel Bronzer - Medium
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara - Black
Benefit Gimme Brow - Dark Blonde
Lancome Blusher - 021 Rose Paradis
No7 Shimmer Palette - Rose
Smashbox Lipstick - Posy Pink

As for my hair, I again like to keep things as easy and as quick to do. I try and avoid using heat as much as I can due to time and also because I want to keep my hair as healthy as it can be. My three favourite hairstyles are shown below. One being the classic pony tail, another being a french braid and then the third (when my hair has been freshly washed) hair down. With my braid or pony tail, I like to pull on the top tied section to make it a little bit looser and also pull some small bits out for a more effortless finish and so my hair doesn't look slick back.

August Favourites

Hello again! Long time no see! I've been super busy with work and of course trying to enjoy my summer break from university. To be totally honest, I wasn't too sure whether I could get into this whole blogging thing, but i've come to the decision that I want to do it because I really enjoy typing away to myself and letting you all know what i've been up to, or what kind of stuff I like / use etc. So as it's that time of the month (in a good way) I thought it would be a good idea to do a monthly favourites. I have been using quite a few new products this month and have pretty much fell in love with most of them and can't believe i've been so long without them in my life... Where to even start!? okay here it goes...

Being the stereotypical girly girl that I am - I love everything shimmery, shiny and pink but I've always had a problem finding a highlighter / blusher until NOW and surprisingly I found two types in just one month! Brownie points for me! The names of the two are: No7 Shimmering palette Rose and Lancome Blush Subtil Pallette 02. The No7 one is so subtle and pretty with its delicate pink colour and it also has light brown shades to give you more of a natural look. It looks sooo pretty on the skin and gives me just the right amount of shimmer without looking too shimmery. No one wants to look like a vampire in the sun from twilight no matter how cool that would be. The Lancome one is a bit more expensive but personally I think it was totally worth it! I've been experimenting a lot with contouring and this is by far the best one i've come across! It seems to be perfect for my complexion and also looks very natural! lets hope that these last me ages and don't get discontinued otherwise I will be on the hunt again! You wont like me when i'm angry (apologies for the film quote).

Like every young human, you grow and in my case, everything has grew and stopped except my hips, legs and bum! I think all the junk food in my previous days is catching up with me. But sadly a bigger bum and hips comes with it's consequences and in this case it's STRETCH MARKS! I know, I know, embarrassing right! For ages, it was getting me down and I ended up hating myself in crop tops, bikinis etc I complained a lot to friends and for a while they kept telling me to get Bio Oil and oh my, it has been incredible! I apply the oil in the morning and just before I go to bed and it seems to be getting rid of them! They are not totally gone just yet, but I honestly think this product will do the job and it lasts absolutely ages. On the lines of removing stuff i've been using a new makeup remover. The one i've been loving this month is from M&S. I got it purely because it was on offer and it said it got rid of redness, so being me, I'm always up for trying new products so I thought why not?! But it's ended up being in my favourites because it feels so good on the skin. It gets rid of all my makeup and makes my skin feel so soft afterwards as if it's a moisturiser too. As for cleansing my body, I've been loving the No7 Cleansing Body Polish which is a scrub and body wash. Due to me having very sensitive skin, I find that No7 is very ideal for me because it's a hypoallergenic company. The product gently exfoliates the skin so it doesn't rip off my skin like other scrubs have done before.

My fav read of the month (I'm lying, it's probably taken me two months to read) has been a book called RSVP by Helen Warner. If you like a romantic and love twisted drama type of book, you will definitely enjoy this! This was once again a bargain buy from Tescos I think for about £2 and it's the best £2 I have spent on a book. The story is told from four different perspectives which at first I found quite difficult to get my head around, but once I got into the book, it's a fantastic story. The only way to describe it is that it's a book version very similar to the story line of Love Actually. But I wont say too much as I hate spoilers. Of course I have a favourite film of the month and it's called The Call. It stars the beautiful Halle Berry which made me love the film instantly! This was such a good thriller and it sucks you in right from the start. One thing for sure is that you won't be able to have a toilet break! I don't normally like scary films, and I think that's why I liked this film so much. If you enjoy thrillers, you wont be disappointed with this one!

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love a good cuppa and this month I have been absolutely loving flavoured tea. They taste so good and I feel like they're healthier because I don't have any sugar with them as they are sweet enough with their fruitiness. My favourite ones have been Twinings Strawberry & Mango or the Pomegranate and Raspberry.

This next favourite might seem strange but thanks the pharmacies of Boots for stocking this... *DRUMROLLS*... Nuromol. Never thought I would favourite tablets but these are frickin amazing! For the past couple of months i've had a lot of problems with my teeth and jaw - I think we all know toothaches are the worst. It got to the stage where I was once again on the hunt for a product to sort me out. When I brought them, I took one to see how strong they were and within 1-2 hours, my pain was completely gone! I mean COMPLETELY gone! When it got to the point where my tooth and jaw were on the bigger scale of pain I took two and again it worked wonders! Never been so proud to own tablets.

Last but not least, I have two favourite songs / bands for this month one being the Years and Years band. I think that every song they have released recently has been brilliant and are great songs for car journies. I've also been liking a youtuber named Hobbie Stuart. His voice is perfection. For a while he had done covers, but he has finally started to show off his own music. My favourite one has been "How you love it". It's sooo catchy! I love it!

I would love to know what you're favourites have been this month so let me know!

Everyday Skincare Routine

I think skincare is one of those things we must all pay great attention to. There's no point in spending lots of money on makeup to cover our skin if we aren't spending the money on making sure our skin is up to scratch underneath it.

So, to start my day off I do the obvious of brushing my teeth and whilst in the bathroom I wash my face with warm water and add a small amount of Neutrogena Visibly Clear Facial Wash which I got recommended about 2 years ago and I've been using it ever since because not only does it smell amazing, but it also cleans my face (obviously) and makes sure to remove every bit of makeup if I have any left on from the day before. I then pat my face dry gently with a towel and apply the Avene Cleanance Toner which leaves my skin feeling so refreshed, clean and awake (which is good for a girl who hates early starts). I normally choose to apply it with a cotton pad as I find that it then spreads evenly over my face and neck. As I get on with the Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit range so much, I decided to try the oil-free moisturiser which I have again started to love as a day cream purely because of the smell. All I put on now is a bit of lip balm and then start putting on my makeup.

As soon as I get home, I automatically have the sudden urge to remove all of my makeup. The easiest and quickest way to do that is by using face wipes! I normally use the No7 Quick Thinking Wipes because I find that they're a very good size and feel like good quality. I also think that they do a really good job at removing my makeup. Even waterproof mascara. The wipes inside the packet stay wet once it's open as it has a re-sealable plastic lid which I like too. Once the makeup is off, I then jump into the shower and as i'm in there, I use the Neutrogena Facial Wash that I use in the morning, to cleanse whatever is left on my face so it feels very clean and ready for it's beauty sleep. Like most girls enjoys to do, I put on my snug PJ's and fluffy socks and start putting on all the other skincare bits and pieces whilst watching an episode of Big Brother, or catching up on a bit of Eastenders. Trying not to get myself too distracted by what's on the TV, I then apply the Avene Toner and some No7 Overnight Revitalising Eye Balm which I worship because when I get up the next day, my eyes feel so refreshed and not gunky (I hate that word). I've also noticed that it has decreased my dark circles slightly which is an extra bonus as I don't look as tired. Once I have let that soak in, I then grab a small amount of night cream which is from the No7 Beautiful Skin range for normal to dry skin and it's unbelievably nourishing for my skin, and soaks in well. Living in England where it's mainly cold and miserable weather, I get very dry around my nose area and sometimes it can be quite flakey so when I feel like i'm a bit dry in areas on my face, I just dab a small amount of the No7 Dry Skin Rescue and by the next day, there is no dry skin and no more flakey bits. Another item that I use only on bad skin days is the No7 Rapid Spot Rescue which decreases the size of spots within the next day. No7 is a well priced skincare brand, so even if these products aren't for you, it's worth taking a look at what they have to offer, especially when the nifty little £5 off vouchers are floating about in Boots!

I have to admit that I have only been taking care of my skin properly for about 2 years and have noticed a dramatic change into how my skin was and what it is now. I used to be one of those people that disagreed with moisturisers or serums and just thought that it was all a waste of money and time, but I've now realised that it's important to take good care of your skin, even if you don't wear makeup! I have now gone from wearing tons of makeup, to using just a BB Cream and maybe a bit of concealer, because of how smooth and healthy my skin is looking.

The Beginning of Something New

Hello everyone! I wanted to create my blog a long time ago but somehow I wasn't ready until now. I kept signing into my account ready to type up a blog post however, I kept on finding excuses not to do it, or over thinking what people I know might think. At this exact moment I have no followers, nobody knows that I exist and it's kind of strange, funny and scary all at the same time. I'm doing this for no other reason than the fact that I can imagine myself having lots of fun doing it and it's something that I think is interesting, which could possibly become a nice hobby of mine over time. I'm also quite a creative person so why not just share my thoughts and ideas whilst blogging about all things girly and everything I love.

So lets begin! I think the best way to start this off is to probably let you know a little bit about me...I'm Jazmyn and love everything there is that comes along with the stereotype of a girly girl, but I'm a very big adrenaline junkie too and love heights, roller coasters or anything to get my heart pumping. I'm currently in my 2nd year at uni studying Graphic Design along side with some photography which is more like a hobby of mine as I love taking photos no matter if I go down the same street on a regular basis, or abroad where there are gorgeous views. Whilst being at uni, as the typical student with no money I had to find myself a part time job and I have been lucky enough to get a job on a makeup counter in a beauty / pharmacy store called Boots in the UK. Even though my future job as a graphic designer has nothing to do with working in retail, there is something about working every weekend that I absolutely love, because I feel like i'm doing something I have a passion for as well as getting some extra moneyPeople might not consider online shopping / shopping as a hobby but I can get quite bad if there is a student sale on at Missguided, Boohoo and Topshop or if it's pay day week. On my blog, you will most likely see posts about my favourite online shops, trends, makeup, hair, holidays, days out, reviews on products and maybe even bits about my personal life.

After having 5 tabs open, all based on advice for starting a blog and ideas about what I can write to start it all off, I read this over about 50 times and I'm honestly quite pleased with myself for taking a huge leap by starting a blog and finally publishing my first post public. Face your fears should be my motto ha ha! I hope you can either relate, enjoy or get some kind of positivity from my future blog posts. So my chin is up and ready for the beginning of something new.
